paper 10/23/06 | Part 2 Of The Interview Up Now!
young buck       It's been a little bit over a week since we posted Part 1 of our exclusive interview with Young Buck and 50 Cent. We won't tease you any further and present you Part 2 of the interview today.

This time, 50 Cent checks in with us and speaks his mind on various topics, including Young Bucks talent and the South's takeover, bringing the West Coast back, his past business relationship with Game which was followed by the infamous beef and the mixtape disses, as well as his opinion on "The Doctor's Advocate". Hate him or love him, Fifty always says things that will get people talking, and this time is no different.

50 cent
Young Buck also speaks his piece on rap feuds and trying to keep it peaceful in the future, as well as his upcoming project "Buck The World". Buck also keeps it entertaining by adding some comedy to this indepth interview. Another classic that you shouldn't miss!

paper 10/15/06 | Interview With Young Buck & 50 Cent!
young buck       As any returning visitor should know by now (first time readers will soon find out), we're known for being the spot that breaks independent talent first, the spot that connects you to the who's who and what's what on the left side, or just the spot for everything in between. Since we already have the West Coast on lock, it's only right that we take a little trip out East and South for an exclusive with two heavyweights in Hip Hop, Young Buck and 50 Cent. Buck and 50 take their time out of their busy schedule to sit down with us for this exclusive 3-way interview. Yash and myself conducted this indepth interview which was handled in different sessions.

Young Buck gets into it and discusses his upcoming album "Buck the World", his recent collaboration with BC Knocc Out and Spider Loc on "Anotha Day in L.A.", being a CEO and signing C-Bo to Cashville Records, G-Units recent album sales, his opinion on fans getting involved in rap feuds, and much more. 50 Cent then proceeds to talk about the Southern takeover in Hip Hop, New York's state of mind, current and past issues with different artists, Young Bucks energy and drive, and much more.

50 centThe interview runs over an over so we had to split the interview in two parts. Part one is Young Bucks show, while part two is carried by 50 Cent. For now we present you part one of the interview, but make sure you check back with us for the exclusive Part 2 coming in a few days.

paper 09/28/06 | Back Again With New Mixtape, New Videos
damani       Hey hey people, guess who's back. It's been a good minute but we're back one mo' gain to lace you with old & classic drops and whatnot. Scroll down to check out the latest adds of West Coast videos. But first I want to get into something else, because we got a special drop for you today, not a video but a dope ass mixtape.

I'm sure everybody out there heard about or even copped Damani's latest mixtape "Congratulations Playa" that he dropped in February of this year. But what you don't know about is Damani's first ever mixtape/street album which came out in 2002. The mixtape served as his demo and it secured him a spot in The Source magazine the same year. That was around the time when we first showcased him on this site. Damn right, the Inglewood talent got his first online piece right here on Westcoast2k.

So today we take you back 4 years and let you get a hold of this mixtape. Some songs we already premiered in our artist showcase, but most of them are brand new to the public.

paper 09/28/06 | New Old School Videos Added
king tee       As promised we got some more old school videos, this time a bunch of classics mixed with some underground videos that never really made it out there, even though the songs were right.

First we got Suga Free with "On My Way" from his 1997 album "Street Gospel" which was looked as a classic by a lot of people. Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E.'s takes the next spot with "Psyko Funk" from their debut album "New Funky Nation". They earned a lot of positive attention for that album, thanks to "Psyko Funk" which became a minor hit single and the album even climbed into the Top 40 of the Rap charts.

Of course you can't have an old school video drop without Dub C. The ghetto heisman blew up the scene alongside the MAAD Circle with their biggest hit from the 1995 album "Curb Servin", "West Up" featuring Mack 10 & Ice Cube.

Let's take a trip to the Bay to get a glimpse of an 1997 E-40, B-La and Richie Rich on "Yay Deep". This joint was featured on the "Southwest Riders" album and used to get plays on BET, the good ole times...

Another emcee not to be left out from the old school is King Tee aka King Tipsy with probably the oldest video that we ever dropped, "Bass" from 1988.

Next up we got mister bullet locco, Jayo Felony with one of those underground classics I mentioned earlier, "Nitty Gritty" produced by E-A-Ski from his 1998 album "Whatcha Gonna Do" released on Def Jam.

Mack 10 is already back in the mix with a quick drop for "On Them Thangs", taken from the self-titled album "Mack 10" released in 1995. Another classic one right there!

To finish this update we go back to Nothern Cali, we got the Bay Area's triple OG, Too Short with another old school jam from his 1989 album "Life Is... Too Short".

Download the videos below:

» Suga Free - On My Way (36 MB)
» Boo Yaa Tribe - Psyko Funk (30 MB)
» WC Feat. Ice Cube & Mack 10 - West Up! (38 MB)
» E-40 Feat. B-Legit & Richie Rich - Yay Deep (36 MB)

09/28/06 | Tha Block DVD Gets National Distribution
tha block dvd       Though other DVD magazines claim to be the official word on the streets, the accelerated popularity of the West coast based urban lifestyle DVD "Tha Block" is proving that theory wrong. After only a year of establishing itself as a leader in delivering quality entertainment utilizing cutting edge technology, the quarterly urban publication has secured national distribution through MVD (Music, Video, Distribution). The 'finished goods deal' which includes the re-release of volumes 1, 2 and 3, will place the highly acclaimed DVD in national chains including, FYE's, The Wherehouse, Dimples, Best Buy, Suncoast, Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Fry's.

Founder, Flawless initially created the DVD magazine to give West coast hip-hop an outlet to be heard in its own voice. As an artist himself Flawless recognized the lack of West coast representation in magazines and on music charts, but he also knew some of the best emcee's in the game were from the streets of Southern California so he hit the block to chronicle urban living firsthand. With volume 1 boasting exclusive interviews from the likes of Jayo Felony, Rass Kass, Stat Quo, a live performance from Psycho Realm as well as some of the hottest new music videos, the DVD sold an impressive 5000 units through word of mouth. Volumes 2 and 3 followed suit with exclusive footage including: Crooked I, DJ Muggs, Lil Eazy E, Sly Boogy, DJ Warrior, Phame, Cecilia Valencia, UFC's Tito Ortiz, MAGIC Convention Coverage, Lil Rob Live Performance & Interview (vol 3.), Tha Dogg Pound, Glasses Malone, David Banner, Mitchy Slick, Estevan Oriol, Suga Free Live Performance & Interview, and Kokane.

MVD is simultaneously releasing Volumes 1, 2, and 3 before releasing the highly anticipated volume 4 which features cover stories from Ice Cube and DJ Quik as well as Paul Wall, Tyrese aka Black Ty, Roccett, Scipio and others.

paper 01/26/06 | Dazzie Dee's "Everybody Wants To Be A G"
dazzie dee       What a combination when original Lench Mob member Dazzie Dee (nowadays known as Big Saccs) hooked up with Battlecat after he left the Mob to record his debut solo album "Where's My Receipt" in 1995. Dazzie Dee and Battlecat created a West Coast classic (which was re-released a year later as "The Re-Birth").

One of the singles that came out from "Where's My Receipt" was the Battlecat produced "Everybody Wants To Be A Gangsta". For this week's throwback video we got Mr. Dee taking you back in time.

kamAnd due to heavy requests after the last update bringing you Kam's "Peace Treaty" video, we got 2 more drops from the Watts native: "Where I Come From" featuring Big Solo and production by DJ Pooh, from the 2001 album "Kamnesia"; and "In Traffic" with Battlecat on the production rockin' the talkbox. paper 01/17/06 | "Peace Treaty" Video Download
kam       For the next throwback video we got Brotha Kam on a gang truce mission on the song "Peace Treaty". A very powerful song and video with significant rhymes recorded after the L.A. riots. The song is off Kam's 1993 album "Neva Again", which is looked at as his best work by a lot of people. With that album, Kam set the bar high for others in Hip-Hop in terms of expressing themselves with true life stories.

Check out the video below:

I'll be back with more.
