Paid The Cost Drops Nov 19 - August 24, 2002

Snoop Dogg's new solo project titled Paid the Cost to Be the Boss drops November 19. The first single is produced by the Neptunes and its called 'From the Church to the Palace'.

"I'm also working on song I have with Lenny Kravitz soon as I get back home,"
Snoop said. "Me and Lenny been trying to get at each other for the past three or four years, we finally been able to connect the dots and make it happen."

In addition to the tunes and Lenny, Redman, his Doggy Style All Stars, producers Jazze Pha, Fredwreck, Just Blaze and Meech Wells all have put their work down on the LP.

"It's probably gonna be one of the biggest albums I put out, whether it sells seven or eight million or seven or eight thousand. It's about the creativity and me making the change and putting together a record I want." he said.

In other news, You might have heard that the Doggfather gave up weed and alcohol and he has been sober for almost a month now and plans on sticking with it. This is what he had to say about it:

"I was having fun when I was getting high. Don't regret none of the times I was on it. That was me, Snoop Dogg: Stoner of the Year. That's how I did that. I stopped smoking and drinking. That was the sharpest move I could've possibly made. It betters me and it's going to keep me around. I'm gonna be healthy and I'm gonna be able to see what the fuck I didn't see in the past. Negative shit, positive shit - I can see it now. I'm 30-years-old now. Three kids. A wife. A mom. Brothers. Artists. Family. Friends. They all need me. They depend on me. I used to do public service announcements and tell the kids, ‘Say no to drugs” and high as fuck – very hypocritical. That’s one thing my momma always told me, ‘If you gonna do something, baby, mean it. Do not be hypocritical. Do not say, “Don’t do this and you turn around and do the same thing.’ I took that to heart." Snoop said.

Xzibit Article - August 19, 2002

Theres a new article in the latest issue of The Source magazine on Xzibit and his issues with Suge Knight, Snoop and surprisingly Tha Liks. Here is a quote from the article where Tash talked about their differences:

"I think the nigga just blew up too quick and didnt realize who was really down with him. Just because them niggas got platinum plaques on the wall, dont try to and make me feel like I am a lesser person. We hand-fed you through this whole rap shit. E-Swift made your first demo, we let you get on our album, took you around the muthafuckin world and walked you up to Loud Records and demanded that Steve Rifkind give you a record deal. "

Tash says theres no true beef between them, but X belittled Tha Liks when they were around Snoop or Dre. I understand where Tash is coming from, but X feels when it was time for him to shine, his success should have been seen as a group effort. It was a breakdown of communication and support that led to the fallout, X said. Thanks to Big BpG for scanning the article.

18. The Last Ride

Man Vs. Machine Tracklist - August 1, 2002

Xzibits new album titled Man vs Machine is droppin September 17, but Xzibit is already hyping his next project. X revealed that The Coast Is Clear, the debut album from the Golden State Project will be released in February on his own label Open Bar.

"We 'bout to hit 'em hard," Xzibit said of his side project. "We've been talkin' 'bout it, talkin' 'bout it since my first record. And now, you know, Open Bar Entertainment is a reality. It's my label. We're on Columbia Records, and it's a whole new push.

The reason for the delays was Xzibit's new solo album, which has been more than a year and a half in the making.

I've been training for this album like I've been getting ready to fight Lennox Lewis or something. I went back in the studio as soon as I got off the road last spring. And I really had a vision for this album. I think I've overcome a lot, and I feel like Man vs. Machine was a fitting title to personify that struggle. It's me staying true to the basic fact that I love the music first and I love the fans and I get my success when I'm out in front of the crowd. Whether there's 30,000 of y'all or five of y'all, I don't care. I got the mic and I'm rippin', and y'all are goin' off and screaming right back at me. That's real." Xzibit explained.

The first single is the Dre-produced Multiply and features additional vocals from Nate Dogg, who showed up, along with Dre and Busta Rhymes, when Xzibit filmed the video for the track earlier this month in Los Angeles.Chris Robinson directed the clip, which follows a caravan of vehicles through the desert to Las Vegas, where X's next video will pick up. Xzibit is seen in each of the rides, which include his own Cadillac Escalade and a tour bus fitted with a stripper pole.

X will head overseas for a short European trek after the Anger Management Tour ends September 8.
