12/28/02 | More News On The X-Homie
As previously reported,
J-Ro of Tha Liks has recorded a diss song aimed at Xzibit. According to BET, the
track "Look Out (The X Homie)" could end up as the B-side of his new
single "Tonight" featuring Kurupt, from J-Ro's own imprint Wolfpac Records.
The self-produced track is making the rounds of mixtape and radio DJs these days.
The lyrics of "Look Out" speak for themselves: "Lil
Homie/ You act like you don't know me/ Jumping ship on your crew must be real
lonely." "Xzibit gonna have to get the message,"
J-Ro said. "It's no way around that. It's all real stuff that actually
happened, so he has no choice but to feel it. It's like scolding your kid or your
nephew; sometimes you gotta just make it happen whether it's in front of anybody
or not. I'm just letting him know that what he been doing ain't appreciated by
the whole Likwit crew, or by the whole west coast." J-Ro explained.
Xzibit has yet to respond to "Look Out," whether on wax
or in person. Stay tuned for more news and audio as we get it.

12/18/02 | Tha
Liks Didnt Sign With Snoop I dont
think many people out there actually knew that Snoop Dogg showed interest to sign
Tha Liks to his Doggystyle label. But the Liks have signed with Artist Direct
Records instead. Snoop showed a lot of interest and its something
that could still go down
but in the meantime we just signed a one album
deal with Artist Direct, so we gonna put an album out this summer. J-Ro
said. Tha Liks have also partnered with Playboy Entertainment
who will release "Tha Alkaholiks 10th Anniversary" DVD late next year.
Playboy got a hold of our last DVD, X.O. The Movie Experience
and the people up there loved it, now they gonna do the 10th Anniversary DVD with
us and they gonna supply all the women. J-Ro added.
Playboy will begin documenting The Liks on January 5, 2003 at their concert at
the El Rey Theater in L.A. On an interesting sidenote, J-Ro has also
released an underground single titled "The X Homie" which addresses
the "tensions" between the Likwit crew and former member Xzibit. (thesource)

St Ides Released On CD! - Dec 15,
2002 The classic and famous St Ides Commercials finally found the way
to CD on DJ Drank's "Greatest Malt Liquor Hits". Rap music fans who
were down with the sound in the early 90s might remember the big gangsta oriented
advertising push carried out by St. Ides malt liquor. The project was a well-funded
series of commercial jingles helmed by Alkaholiks producer E-Swift and Lench Mob
crew members King Tee, DJ Pooh and Sir Jinx, all West Coast's finest at the time.
The result was super dope one-minute spots by such notable artists as Ice Cube,
Erik B and Rakim, EPMD, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Warren G, Dr Dre or Scarface just
to name a few. These rap commercials were really really good and they sound better
than most commercial rap crap today. Not surprisingly with lyrics like Cube's
"Get your girl in the mood quicker, get your jimmy thicker, with St. Ides
malt liquor," it wasn't long before controversy soon overshadowed the
advertising campaign. The project eventually met with harsh criticism by minority
and community groups who charged that the malt liquor brand was using rap music
to sell itself to minors. The beer's trademark holder disconnected itself from
the product and the national commercials were dropped. But to the point,
the songs were really good and impossible to find. How DJ Drank got em all on
a CD in high quality is beyond me. But dont expect to see copies of this album
in your record store, it still is very rare and limited. 30 tracks in all, here
is the tracklisting and cover. Ill post some tracks from the album in the next
few days on this site, all high quality.

1.
King Tee "St. Ides" 2. King Tee & DJ Pooh "Forty Ounce
Fit for a King" 3. King Tee & DJ Pooh "Tha Bomb Malt Liquor"
4. King Tee & E-Swift "Do Ya Like St. Ides?" 5. King Tee "Do
You Wanna Go To The Liqor Store?" 6. E-Swift & King Tee "Let's

Liquor" 10. Ice Cube & Dj Pooh "All I want for Christmas"

Lawsuit - Dec 15, 2002 Dj Quik talked to The Source
Magazine on the current status about the $500 million lawsuit for using an Indian
melody for the song "Addictive". We working it out
cause somebody in India flipped our record and did their own version of it, but
it contains elements of our record and our arrangement so technically we can counter
sue. If its business, we gonna play business tactics. This ain't rocket
science. The Calcutta people arent that mad anymore and we working it out
with the people at Universal and Interscope." Despite
the drama, Quik and Truth have reunited for Quiks latest single Come

Thangs - Dec 04, 2002 I picked this up from
MTV.com, its an update on Dj Quik. It sais that Quik is conducting an orchestra
for the score of the upcoming Chris Rock comedy "Head of State." "It's
another avenue for me and I love it. Its strings and brass and orchestration mixed
with hip-hop. And the main vignette in the movie I did with Nate Dogg doing the
singing." Quik said. And according to the MTV article, Butch Cassidy
is now a official recording artist signed to Quik's Bungalo Records. He's been
in the studio with him recording tracks for his album, along with Suga Free and
newcomer Amir, the 26 year old Persian rapper. "I was in a studio
with Butch, and Amir was in another session and he opened up the possibility of
doing some production," Quik explained. "So we talked a little bit and
he was hungry, and I listened to his projects and it was another kind of music
for me, the whole Persian and Arabic thing." Amirs debut album titled
"Images of My Mind", due early next year. It includes the songs "Bombs Over Saddam,"
"What's My Life Worth" and "Bloody Murder." After Amir's album is released,
Bungalo Records will focus on Suga Free's follow-up to the classic "Street Gospel".
"It's Richard Pryor's lyrics over some Dr. Dre-type production," Quik
said of Suga Free's new material. "It's real interesting. It's comedy, but
really street, really vulgar, on the pimp thing. He's a real rhythmic dude. He
can beat on the table and rap at the same time without missing a beat. That takes
a lot of talent." Album Sales For Pac & Snoop
- Dec 04, 2002 Here are the first weeks album
sales for Snoops new album "Paid Tha Cost To Be Da Boss" and 2Pac's latest posthumous
release "Better Dayz". Pac arrived at number 5 on sales of 380.512 copies. The

album barks its way onto the Billboard 200 at No. 12 and No. 3 on R&B/Hip
Hop charts on sales of 197.128 copies. That first week total is a major decline
for Snoop from the 397.000 copies of his last album "Tha Last Meal" (to date Tha
Last Meal has sold 1.98 million copies). New 2Wice

myself as a solo artist. This one I'm already rolling from the first joint."
he says. When asked if he had any particular
message for fans this time around, Nate Dogg quipped: "Just tell 'em I'm
bringing the shit." The first single is "Get Up" featuring Eve., produced by Dj Quik.
