wc2k
- Alright. Whassup with you Scoe?
Roscoe
- Whats the word? Im just chillin man. God is good.
wc2k
- So first off I got the album last week, props on that one homie, its off the
hook.
Roscoe - Thank you, appreciate it!
wc2k
- Right, so for everbody that didnt get it yet, tell em Scoe, why should they
get it?
Roscoe - Uhh I worked
on it for 5 years, put a whole lot into it. With Kurupt overseeing the project
and everything, its really really big. Its in stores now, Young Roscoe Philaphornia.
Its G'd up, I got a whole lotta West Coast influence, a whole lotta East Coast
influence, Southern influence. I got Dj Quik on there, Organized Noize worked
on it, they did "Waterfalls" for TLC. And I have Sleepy Brown on a hook,
he did "So Fresh, So Clean". Its real big.
wc2k
- Ok, you said 5 years? About how many tracks did you record thatwere meant to
be on there?
Roscoe - Man I cant even tell you. So many, I cant count.
wc2k -
What can people expect on there?
Roscoe - Well they can expect tracks
wich they can enjoy and bump in their entirety. Songs where you can just chill
to, songs where you aint gotta turn every track off, you can just listen through
the whole album straight through it and its something you can play your momma
cause its clean.
wc2k
- Can you back up everythang you say in your songs?
Roscoe - Oh yea, oh
yea definitely!
wc2k
- Is there a song on Philarphornia that means alot to you on a personal level?
Roscoe -Uhh well all the songs mean alot to me on a personal level. Really every
track cause they all about me, they all about different changes and different
things in my life. And just the everyday thing in my life and how I see it.
wc2k
- I Luv that "Smooth Sailin" track. You gonna shot a video for that?
Roscoe
- Oh yeah definitey, we're workin on that right now!
wc2k
- And when can we expect it?
Roscoe - Well
in a couple of coming weeks, definitely.
wc2k
- Why was the album pushed back so many times?
Roscoe - It was pushed
back so many times because we just kept workin on it. Like I kept coming up with
new songs. And we were at the point were guys came up to me and told me to stop
makin new songs (laughs). And I still make em I just dont play them the songs.
wc2k
- Was it hard to be patient for so long?
Roscoe - Oh yeah very hard. I
know its hard for everybody to stay patient. But I dont think it was as hard as
it was for other individuals.
wc2k
- Since your own brother put u in the game, it seemed like everything was straight
and easy for you all these years. But was it really like that or did you have
a hard time sometimes growing up in the industry?
Roscoe - Maaaan, I had
battles. I had countless battles you know. Growing up 3000 miles away from my
momma that aint easy. I grew up in Philly till 13 then I came to LA. And out here
its a whole different ball game. I had alot to learn on my own. I have my brother
around me but he didnt have time for me allday. I know I didnt have it as hard
as alotta other cats have it but I had it hard. Everybody got it hard nowadays,
aint nobody rich.
wc2k
- What seperates you from all the other rappers out there?
Roscoe
- I think my own individuality, my own character, my own personality and everythang
that I do. Aint nobody in this game like Young Roscoe. I do everythang my own
way and I try to keep the head straight cause it aint easy. But I try to get people
what they want, everytime they heard me on tracks or whatever. Cause the only
thing they want is me, and how I am, and who I am. I aint tryna fake it. Thats
all about me, you know? My situation, my group, and my label. Cause I got my own
label Rose Of Sharron Entertainment (R.O.S.E.), with me and my momma. I'm a company
man, I cant worry about what other people think. I gotta keep movin, keep bringin
these records, cause its a money situation.
wc2k
- Why do you think the East is controlling the rap game right, it seems like almost
every rapper out there has a hit song even if its bullshit, whats the West doing
wrong?
Roscoe - They West aint doing nothing wrong right now, its just
too much violence goin on. Violence is everywhere but Im sayin, people just too
scared. We need alot more function where its all just cool and peace.
wc2k - You say this is the
reason the West aint sellin no records? Cause theres violence everywhere, on the
East Coast, South, whatever.
Roscoe - I cant really explain it. It takes
skills, it takes more than just havin a hit nowadays. You gotta have skills, thats
what seperates me from all the other rappers out there. Theres too many things
in Rap that dont belong in this game. So you gotta show what you got, and thats
what Im trying to do. I got skills, I aint no gimmick.
wc2k
- But what can you do to help bring West Coast Rap music back to the forefront?
Roscoe - Umm basically you know, Like I said Im just tryin to do my thang.
Me and my squad just trying to put it down in a way we can do it, cause we the
illest, cant nobody see us on the Mic and we about to show what this really about.
We're puttin it down in a real way.
wc2k
- What is your personal opinion about Daz Dillinger?
Roscoe - (Silence...)
What About him? Thats my big brother you know..
wc2k - So yall still
cool and talk together?
Roscoe - Am I still cool with Daz?? (laughs) Well
you know..Daz aint said nuthin about me! He did nothing to me.. and he didnt do
nothing to my brother.
wc2k - Come on, You and
I know he dissed Kurupt on wax!
Roscoe - I aint mad. You know what Im
sayin? Dont even trip cause I dont even know why people tryna spark something,
ask questions about it and all that. Wassup with this or that, just cause they
know its gonna sell. You know its gonna sell!
wc2k - Dont worry I
aint gonna sell my interview homie.
Roscoe - Aint nobody really wanna
see that. Someone whos a fan and really stays down with the group, they dont wanna
see this happen.
wc2k
- Well whats your personal opinion and what do you think about it? Cause you cant
tell me you could chop it up with them anytime you want and do some music together!
Roscoe
- Sorry I dont wanna talk about that. I dont wanna get involved in their business.
wc2k -
Aight I respect that.
Roscoe - Well I aint even tryna get involved in
this so I dont wanna comment the situation.
wc2k - I have heard rumors
of Bad Azz having a talk with you about some shit, if you have any idea of what
I am talking about could you tell us what you guys talked about?
Roscoe - Me and Bad Azz aint never talked together. Who said that?
wc2k
- It was Daz who said it.
Roscoe
- Daz? And what did we talk about?
wc2k
- Thats what you gonna tell me right now.
Roscoe - Nah we never talked
together.
wc2k
- Dont you think the West would be much stronger if everybody would come together
as one?
Roscoe - Of course, thats what I want, thats what I pray for.
You got the proof back in the days, no one could mess with the West back then.
Everybody should just think for a second, about what they do and why they do it.
Cause most of the drama out there happens for no real reason.
wc2k
- Now that Kurupt has returned to Tha Row, have you thought about going to join
him?
Roscoe - Im on Capitol/Priorty Records. I got my own record label,
and Im on my own record label Rose Of Sharron Entertainment, distributed through
Capitol/Priorty Records.
wc2k
- But he has his own record label too, so it could still happen one day?
Roscoe - My brother always told me to be an individual, a leader. To own something,
like he got. So my goal is to be eatin off that one day.
wc2k - So
we cant expect that from you in the future?
Roscoe - Not really.
wc2k
- You dont have to answer that one, but would you ever sign with a label that
all of your best homies hate?
Roscoe - Would I ever sign with a label
that all of my best homies hate? It depends on what they was paying for me.
wc2k
- So if they was paying the right price you would?
Roscoe - Yeah..I mean,
Hell Yeah!!! I mean would you sign with a label that all of your best homies hate
if they was paying your the right price?
wc2k
- Nope, I definitely wouldnt. And I put this on my Philaphornia CD.
Roscoe
- Ahh you full of shit, I know you would! (laughs)
wc2k
- Blood is thicker than money, and you know that. Homie love is what counts.
Roscoe - Its homie love what counts? Nah homie..its about business! You know that!
Thats why you askin me these questions. You dont care about my opinion, you dont
care about how I feel about these questions you're askin me thats why you askin
me these questions. Because you know they gonna sell. So you know business.
wc2k
- Well I could ask you about your shoe size, but I doubt anybody wants to hear
that. And besides that, like I said before I aint makin no cent off this. Its
all for the love.
Roscoe - Maybe
publicity? Or whatever it is, cause you wanna spark this and tell people about
it. But its not even a big thing. If it was a big thing, it would be out there,
it would be on TV, it would be fights and everybody would see it. But it aint
none of that, everybodys workin and handlin' their business. But you know what
Im sayin though? I aint tryin to get hot at you or nuthing like that, but Im just
lettin you know what it is, its all business. It aint personal. Put up the money
and I see all of them niggas back in the studio, just put up the right money.
wc2k
- There was this song on the "G-TV" DVD called "Dolla Bill" with Bad
Azz freestyling over it. And I was told this was originally a track by You, The
DPG, and Nate Dogg. You know what im talkin about?
Roscoe - Uhh uh. All
I know right now is Young Roscoe Philaphornia. Thats the album and its in stores
right now, its real big and a whole lotta people worked on it. Nate Dogg is the
big homie, all them cats is the big homies, everybody that you named is the big
homie. All the cats thats supposedly beefin is all my big homie, so I dont know.
I aint tryina mess with all the negativity. I'm about the music, thats what I'm
all about, you feel me? I dont get involved in all the other stuff you feel me?
I'm a Youngster, I stay out they business.
wc2k
- Are you planning to hook up with Crooked I?
Roscoe - Everybody tells
me too hook up with him! I got songs for days, I got songs for everybody. I'm
planning to drop everything that I can do a song with everybody I can do a song
with, Im planning to get my money everywhere I can get my money from. And anybody
that hates me for makin my money? You know what they can do? Im pretty sure you
know what they can do! (laughs) Im sure you feel the same way about money, even
your best homie. Haha, thats right though? Thats just business! I mean how old
are you?
wc2k
- Im 19.
Roscoe - You 19? Well guess what, Im 19 man. Well Imma come kick
it with you and we gon hook it up (laughs). And we gonna have a real loooooong
talk about this. Ill make sure Ill get all your information and we gonna hook
it up. (laughs)
wc2k
- How much have you recorded for the YA album, percent wise?
Roscoe -
Oh its done..Yeah we finished it. We completed the Y.A. album, the Entourage album.
Umm and now we got Tri's album completed as well. And we need to work on Bizzle's
album, YG's album, Flow's album, Tone's album. So we definitely got projects to
work on you know? And then I'm workin on my 2nd album as well.
wc2k
- Oh fo real? And you got a title for that yet?
Roscoe - Nah Im not sure
yet what Im gonna call it, but its gonna be big.
wc2k
- You got any features on there, like rapping and producing wise?
Roscoe
- Oh yeah, I got a gang. I got Battlecat, I worked with Dj Quik again. I got songs
for days. Even Rockwilder, I get down with everybody. Devante from Jodeci did
tracks for me. Damon Elliot, he did that track for Pink. So yeah I got a gang.
And rappin wise..theres so many to dig in there. I got Cypress Hill, I got my
boy Nate Dogg of course, Kokane. But theres no release date yet, cause I just
started really workin on it. But I got songs for days.
wc2k
- When is the YA album droppin?
Roscoe - Its coming soon, trust me. Its
all on Rose Of Sharen Entertainment though, my album, the YA album. But right
now I'm concentrating on my solo album though.
wc2k
- So what else can people expect from you in the future?
Roscoe - Just
more heat, Im ready to do all kind of shit. But right now Im concentrating on
this heat, on this Rap. Thats what I do, and cant nobody see me on the Mic. "Young
Roscoe Philaphornia" is proof, go get it!
wc2k
- Do you got any shout outs or a message for all your fans out there?
Roscoe
- I aint got no shout outs but I got a message for my fans out there, if I got
fans. Thats put god first, you know? If you believe in what you do, and you do
it to the fullest, eventually you gonna benefit from it. Your gifts gonna make
room for you, as long as you put god first.
