01/29/03 | New Shade & Baby Ree Drop

Shade Sheist was on Power 106 last week and premiered two new songs. The first one being "Rude Awakening" which was meant to be the "Wake Up Remix" but has now turned into a record which will appear on the upcoming Baby Ree / Hoobangin compilation "Ghetto Gutter and Gangsta". The song features Butch Cassidy, Knoc-Turn'Al and more appearances by N.U.N.E., Warren G and OGLB, and it is an interpolation of Mobb Deep's "Shook Ones".

The second record was a drop he had just recorded for Dj Felli Fel called "Betta Watch" which they played that night. The drop features Damizza and Titus Fu*k, the newest PaperWork artist. They rap over 50 Cent's "In Da Club" which was mixed with an old NWA record and begins with words from Eazy-E. They all shine ont he track, especially Shade cause this is a very different record than we're use to from him as he attacks individuals he chose to leave nameless.

Shade also talked about his recent removal from MCA Records urging all new artists to stay away from them. Damizza has been granted the rights to remove Shade Sheist from all contractual obligations with MCA Records. Shade is now a free agent and looking to release an Indepedent record this year, as well as PaperWork Entertainment artist N.U.N.E's record and the Baby Ree/Hoo Bangin album.

We have the Felli Fel drop for you right here exclusively on this site. Click here to listen to the Felli Fel Drop "Betta Watch" (in mp3).

To hear the song "Rude Awakening" head over to the homies at DubCNN.com. Much luv to the whole BabyRee Crew for this stuff.

01/21/03 | Defari Speaks On Xzibit

"When you stray so far away from the dudes that you came up with, you wonder if he even knows himself", Defari said in a recent interview with AllHipHop.com.

"Likwit Crew, we know who we are. Defari, I know who the fuck I am. You wait 'til you are 27 years old and now you are Crippin?" Defari asked of Xzibit.

"You ain't from one street. Just 'cause niggas from the set show you love, that doesn't mean that you are from the set. It's crazy because these niggas are so Hollywood with this shit and there are so many regular real niggas who ain't never banged, who are way more gangsta then these niggas. They goin' bananas from bandannas".

Defari said that he warned Xzibit not to glorify the gang life. "Niggas told me when I was a little kid 'don't fuck with this shit'. I used to tell dude on the road you not a Crip or a Blood. I ain't down with fake bangin', or bangin' period, fake or not".

Defari recently finished a track produced by Fredwreck, titled "Haunted Souls", which deals with the harsh realities of the gang life.

"It will be the hardest shit you ever heard out of L.A." It's about three kids, 13, 16 and 19. They talk about why they joined and how they got into the life. It's a killer song. I taped my voice to sound like little kids", Defari said.

The song will be featured on Defari's new album "Odds & Evens" droppin in April on his own High Times Records, distributed by Universal Records. The first single is called "Spell My Name" and can be heard by clicking here.

The album features appearances by E-Swift, Evidence, Dilated Peoples, Phil The Agony & Tha Liks.

01/03/03 | Tray Deee Releaseas Solo In April
Tray Deee will release his debut solo album in April on S-Pop Entertainent.

"Its called "Kid Solo" to let them know I'm still hanging with the contemporaries in this game and I’m standing on my own two feet. I want people to gather an understanding of who Tray Deee is as a person." Tray said.

Tray will also showcase his new artists Bam, Big Rocc, Boretta, Iceberg, L.A. County and DJ Silk on the project as he schools them to the industry.

“I can’t overthrow the game but I can implement new tactics and show them how they supposed to treat folks in this business cause the game is real cut throat.”

Tray and Goldie Loc will also drop an Eastsidaz album next year, which Snoop will not be involved with. Tray added that TVT Records has the option to put out the next album but they were also in talks with Cash Money/Universal to release the project.

01/01/03 | Happy New Year
Happy new year from Westcoast2k. Some people might remember when the site was born 3 years ago back in January 2000. I had an idea of bringin everything West Coast Rap related to fans all around the world and I think I can say with confidence that we achieved that position. Anyway, its a new year so let's see what the future holds for the West Coast.

01/01/03 | New J-Ro / Daz & Lil Flip
The long awaited diss song by J-Ro aimed at Xzibit titled "Look Out (The X-Homie)" leaked to the public. We reported on this beef a few times so everybody should be informed by now, if not scroll down to read the full scoop. This song is pretty hard and he's rappin about real stuff, J even mentioned the Snoop and X beef. Xzibit has no choice but to feel the lyrics cause as far as I can tell everything J-Ro said was real. Anyway, click here to listen to the song.

Daz Dillinger and Down South Rapper Lil Flip recorded a bunch of songs together and a few of them leaked to the public, one of them is "Flip And Daz".

01/01/03 | Update on Sixx John
Here is a little update on West Coast rising star Sixx John. Heads will remember when they first heard him on the song "The UnXXpected". Anyway, it's been kinda quiet around him lately. Well his album titled "The UnXXpected" is coming out the first quarter of 03, like March or April. The albums been finished for a year but he cant release it due to problems with the label 1Tyme Entertainment. Big Tank is the CEO of the label, and also the same guy who produced Missy's "Work It", so he's kinda into his own stuff right now. We'll see how things will come out, but dont sleep on Sixx!
