will end up on an upcoming Mack 10 Compilation.
It features artists such as Mack himself, Techniec,
Ice Cube, Lil Jon and more. Below is a track from
the promo, its by Techniec called Pay Back.
Good to hear from Tech again cause the homie has

if they dont put his album out.

Dr Dre Talks
About R Kelly - March 30 2002
Dr. Dre commented
on R Kelly's recent Sex Scandal. Here is what he
told MTV:
I've been
hearing a lot of talk on the radio in L.A. from
stations that are saying they're not going to play
his records ever again because they saw the video
and he's a sick bastard," Dr. Dre said Wednesday.
"But I don't know if it's true. I only know what
I've heard. I haven't seen the video, nor do I want
to see it because there's a kid involved. That's
where I draw the line. You can do almost anything
except touch kids or something like that. That's
a no-no, you know what I'm saying? If he's guilty,
he's over. I'm just waiting for the results.
If the truth comes back and he's not guilty,
he can definitely recover. I think people will open
their arms out to him again, because then it becomes
just him on tape having sex, that's it. We've all
seen other stars and what have you do that before.
Look at Tommy Lee and Pamela Lee. They were glamorized
for it. Dre said Wednesday.
Dre recently
produced a track for his latest protégé,
R&B singer Truth Hurts, that features Kelly.
The song was a strong candidate to be her first
single, but it was put aside at least partially
because of Kelly's situation, according to Truth
Hurts. Lil Jay

Dre &
Ra Talk Oh My God - March 27 2002
Last week in
L.A. on the set of Truth Hurts' debut video, Addictive,
Rakim And Dre talked about his 3rd album Oh My God.
"Me and Dre
gonna shake the world up. The concept is self-explanatory.
When people hear the album, that's the first thing
we hope they say: 'Oh my God! Ra and Dre finally
got together.' When people hear it, we want them
to be blown away, and at the same time I wanna change
the game again. We've got high expectations for
this album." Rakim said earlier in the day
"I have to
go to work right now and hard. I want this to be
one of the best albums I've worked on. Everybody
loves Rakim. He still gets respect. Everybody wants
to hear him. I feel like it's gonna be like Quentin
Tarantino bringing back John Travolta — just that
big blast. So far, everything we've recorded is
amazing." Dre said on the video set.
Rakim said he
and Dre are full-steam ahead in the studio and that
by late summer the project they've been talking
about for close to a decade should be in stores.
Dre, though, said he's thinking about a winter release.
Rakim called
his time in the lab with Dre "refreshing" and said,
"You get up in the studio with Dre, nothing else
matters. He's in there from three in the afternoon
to six in the morning. To see somebody work like
that, it rekindles the fire within you and makes
you wanna be next to him and make it happen. His
energy in the studio is real bright, and I like
that."
The excitement
goes both ways. "It's pretty crazy," Dre
said. "I had to get over the initial shock that
I was working with Rakim. I think I'm past that
now. I can concentrate on getting creative and bringing
something out of him maybe he didn't know he had,
get something new and fresh out of him — something
that's gonna be a lot better than what the other
MCs are doing today. I'm not gonna stop until I
accomplish that."
"When I broke
up with Erick B., I went on a little hiatus. Then
all I was trying do is find producers. It's real
hard, man. When you're dealing with a bunch of different
producers, you gotta make sure the chemistry fits.
You can't have 12 records on your album and none
of them sound alike. You gotta kind of have something
to make them say, 'That sounds like Rakim.' It's
hard. That's why this position that I'm in with
Dr. Dre, I can sit back and focus on the notebook
and pad. I'm in a real good position. I couldn't
ask for a better producer."
"Hip-hop,
we're getting slack on the creative process of what
rappers are talking about," Ra explained. "I
want to do what I feel hip-hop is. I want everybody
to acknowledge it. I don't want to knock nobody
down, but what I want to do on this album is point
at what I think real hip-hop is. If it works, then
it's all to the good. If not, then I might have
to submit to what's going on, but I'll never do
that! I always went left to what everybody else
was doing. I'm used to going against the grain.
I definitely want to make a statement this time
and change rap." Lil Jay

- March 24, 2002
DJ Quik is currently
in Arizona doin shows and promotion for his new
album Under Tha Influence which is now officially
coming MAY 14th. The big homie DPG Mastermind had
the chance to talk to him for a bit but Quik was
in a major rush. Once again he said that he prolly
won't work with Dre anytime soon cuz Dre takes too
long to put out shit. Also, Quik has recorded tracks
with Layzie Bone but their still unreleased and
he didnt know if they'll ever be released. On a
sidenote, Quik was on the radio on Friday and they
asked him if he could eliminate anyone in tha rap
game, who would it be and Mr Quikster said Suge
Knight...And they asked him who was tha most famous
person he's ever slept with and he said Traci Spencer.
And you might wanna know that they asked him if
he had to get a tattoo of either Vanilla Ice or
Nsync, who would it be and he said Vanilla Ice.
So expect to see him with with a bigg ass Ice Ice
Baby tattoo on his neck in the near future. LOL.

So Addictive
Remix - March 20, 2002
Dr. Dre has produced
a remix of the Truth Hurts single So Addictive
featuring Busta Rhymes. The singer from St. Louis
spent last Saturday and Sunday at the Hotel Figueroa
in downtown Los Angeles taping the video for the
original version of the song, which is the first
release from her forthcoming album, Truthfully
Speaking. The video, directed by Philip Atwell
(Real Slim Shady, Bad Intentions), complements the
song's East Indian sound with belly dancing choreographed
by Fatima Robinson, and her body decorated with
henna art. Dre, DJ Quik (who produced the original
version), Rakim, Shaunta, and AMG attended the video
shoot on Sunday March 17. Lil Jay
Even More
Movies For Snoop - March 20, 2002
"I've got
a movie that's being shot around right now, it's
called 'Lady T and Mojo Slim,' " Snoop said
Sunday on the set of another upcoming movie,
"Old School." "I want Gwen Stefani to play the opposite
of me in that movie, so we're trying to get that
to happen. It's like a 'Bonnie and Clyde' movie."
While the pairing
isn't likely to happen (Stefani's management denies
it), Snoop's film career shouldn't suffer. Not only
is the Doggfather coming off three popular projects
from last fall, he has another three in the works.
In "Old School,"
which stars Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell and Luke
Wilson, Snoop plays the entertainer in a party scene.
"It was fun because the people were enjoying the
shit and it was in a different light," Snoop
said after filming the scene with fellow rapper
Warren G. "Instead of just regular acting, it
was more performing, and that's what we do."
In the scene,
Snoop performs a remake of Eric B & Rakim's
"Paid in Full," which will also be included on the
soundtrack. Snoop is so impressed with his version,
which features additional vocals by Tracy Nelson
and Kokane and percussion from Cypress Hill's B-Real,
he plans to include it on his upcoming album, Big
Snoop Dogg: Paid the Cost to Be the Boss.
Also in the works
for the budding big-screen star is a drama called
"48 Honey."
"It's like
a gangbang story, a 'hood story," Snoop explained,
kicking back in his dressing room as Warren G and
Vaughn played video games. "It's real sharp.
It's slick. It's deeper than any other movie that
you've ever seen that's 'hood orientated."
Snoop was inspired
to improve his acting chops after working with thespians
like the Oscar-nominated Denzel Washington in "Training
Day" and Vaughn in "Old School."
"It's like
the real ones who are really making quality movies,
my acting is steppin' up to be in their realm. So
it's not just low-budget 'hood roles that I'm doin'.
I am reaching out now, and I am getting the chance
to be in the presence of real actors. And these
people I've been involved with today, it's just
a blessing. I'm thanking you all for giving me the
opportunity, Hollywood." Snoop said.
Once these films
are finished and Big Snoop Dogg is on shelves, Snoop
plans to explore other roles, possibly even star
in a romantic comedy.
"I'm with
all that. I've got kids. I'm into making movies
for all people, kids and middle-aged. I don't want
to just keep it one-sided. I like it to be for everybody,
just like my music." Snoop said.
Also, Snoop is
getting ready to unveil a new line of porno films
with Hustler head Larry Flynt, in addition to working
on his new album.
Snoop's first
foray into the world of porn came with last year's
extremely popular skin flick "Doggystyle," which
was distributed by Hustler. The video even took
home trophies for Best Music and Top Selling Tape
of 2001 at the 2002 Adult Video News (AVN) awards
in Las Vegas.
"Right now,
me and Larry Flynt are getting ready to ink this
big deal, so y'all be on the look out for Snoop
Dogg and Larry Flynt. It's called 'Hustlaz.' Volume
one should be out in July, then we'll put out a
whole host of volumes after that. It's real flossy,
real bossy, and its real flavorful. So, if you're
into adult videos, be sure to rush down and get
you some ... like you already got that 'Doggystyle
Volume One', you got lotion all on your hands!"
Snoop said about his new line of pornos.
As for the awards
show, Snoop said he was quite pleased to come out
on top.
"I won two awards at the nasty awards. Everybody
in my family was pleased that I won that award.
Being that that was my first adult movie that I
made, I came in the game real strong and hard."
he explained
Snoop also talked
about his new album, which should hit record stores
sometime in the fall.
"The new album
is called Big Snoop Dogg Has Paid the Cost to Be
The Boss, and its just basically me gradually growing
in the hip-hop world to where I'm the boss, where
I'm at right now. I started off as an underboss,
playing the background with Dr. Dre and building
Death Row Records, then moving on to No Limit Records
and you know, getting my stripes as a soldier. And
now I finally got my own situation together. Now
I'm the boss, and that's what this record is about.
It's about the growth of Snoop Dogg as an artist
and as a boss, and its just bossy!" said Snoop.
Speakin of Snoop,
remember when we reported about the Showtime soundtrack.
He was supposed to appear on a track called Murderer
together with Barringon Levy. But the bad news is
that they removed his song from the album for some
reason. Thats fucked up cause I was fiendin for
that Raggae track with Levy. The soundtrack is out
now. Lil Jay

Kurupt And
Porno For Pyros - March 19, 2002
Kurupt was in
the studio last Wednesday (March 13) with alternative
rock band Porno For Pyros recording the song tentatively
titled 'Snapped' for the Dark Blue soundtrack.
In Dark Blue,
previously titled the Plague Season, Kurupt portrays
Orchard, a relentless hired killer with a comedic
edge. The film is set in South Central Los Angeles
during the 1992 Rodney King trial and riots.
The film stars
Kurt Russell, Ving Rhames, and Michael Michele.
When Launch spoke to Kurupt on the set of the film
last summer, he explained how he landed the role.
"They sent my manager a bunch of scripts, and
he just said 'do you want to go out and read for
this? I said, 'Fuck it. I might as well.' And I
went and read out and I smashed him from the door."
Kurupt recalled. Lil Jay

Ice T &

Ice-T has been
laying low on the music side of things for the past

but that's all about to change. Cause Ice is working
on a new album.
"The album
is tight. It's called SMG. Myself, Smooth Da Hustler,
Trigga Da Gambler and Snoop. Everybody. It's the
first East Coast/West Coast group. Smooth and Trigga
have been my friends for years. I been down with
them since 'Broken Language', so it's just something
that we used to perform together, so we just said
, 'Fuck it, let's make a group.' And the chemistry
is real hot." Ice said.
"As for whether
or not the project will come out on Coroner Records,
we are ironing out the details now. Well, right
now, it might come out on Snoop Dogg's label Dogghouse.
We're working on that, but its going down."
Ice T added. Lil Jay

Brat, Xzibit, Jermaine Dupri, the Rev. Run, Cypress
Hill's B-Real, Nate Dogg, Young MC and DJ Quik taped
an episode of NBC's "Weakest Link" scheduled to

That was definitely
the funniest television or radio show I've ever
done or been a part of. Show host Anne Robinson
asked Nate why he had his hands in his pockets.
Nate said, 'So I won't steal anything.' We were
all dying. Quik said in a statement.
Although everyone
loved the wise guy, Quik said they didn't take too
kindly to a smarty-pants in the group. I'm not
going to say anything about who won, but that show
just goes to prove it doesn't matter if you're a
school kid or a famous rapper, nobody likes a know-it-all,"

King Tee Album
Info - March 7, 2002
Here is a new
article on King Tee taken from a magazine, I wanna
thank J@B for typing this out! Anyway, the article
is pretty interesting. King Tee is still working
on his new album which will be entitled The King
Strikes. As you probably know by now, he is
on Ruthless Records after leaving Aftermath.
'Man, Me &
X are too cool to have to be categorized as rappers
& boss. Thats why I didn't go to Open Bar' Tee
said. 'Production for the next album will be
handled by Dr. Dre, E-Swift, Battlecat, Ric Rock,
DJ Premier, among others.
Right now we're looking at about late this year
for the album. Guest appearences will include Tha
Liks, Xzibit, Phil Da Agony, Knoc-Turn'Al, Ras Kass,
Mos Def and whoever else I happen to run into down
the line.'
King Tee says
he is ready to get his thing back together after
the big flop of his Thy Kingdom Come not
actually being released. You can catch him in the
movie "3 Strikes Part 2" making an appearence

Snoop Dogg
Coming In August? - March 6, 2002
The following
news comes from a poster from the DPG Recordz forum,
thanx to whoever who posted this. As you may know,
Snoop was at the taping of the Carson Daly show
the other day and he talked a little about his next
album. It is definitely a solo album and coming
out on Priority, with the title Paid The Cost
To Be The Boss. It supposedly has a August release
date but does anyone really expect it to drop before
September? However, after that he'll move his label
to MCA and the first release will be a compliation
with all the Doggystyle Artists and will be called
Welcome To Tha Dogg House. Once again I have
my doubts if this compilation will come out or not.
The Carson show should air very soon. Lil Jay
Bone Talks
On Harmony - March 5, 2002
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
has resolved its differences with Ruthless Records
and is scheduled to release its fifth studio record,
Thug World Order, this spring.
Wish Bone told
Launch that the group's relationship has improved
with Ruthless Records, which filed a suit against
the quartet in July 2001, accusing them of not upholding
their contractual obligation to deliver six albums.
"It's a whole
lot better. Basically, we had to just stand up and
just get certain things that we wanted," he
said. "You know what I'm saying? Let them know
that we are men, we are rappers, we are still having
fun, but on top of all of that, we are businessmen
now. It got to be the way we want it, or we can
go about it another way. Whatever it takes."
Layzie Bone adds
that the group had to take a stand to get what they
wanted.
"It's all
business, and everything, When we set out for a
goal, we got to handle our business. We gots to
get paid. So we went and fought with them. But this
is family. We worked it out."
The Bone album
will include more socially charged material than
their previous efforts, says Wish Bone.
"We a little
more political on this album. We gone say what they
scared to say, you know what I'm saying? Like, we
ain't scared of them, god damn it," he said.
