Some
New Music -
May 26, 2002
Back real quick with Some new muSic.
Here is the first single from the Doggystyle Records Compilation, by Latoya Williams
called Fallen Star. Beat is familiar, so that probably means that the Snoop
track will stay unreleased. The video for Fallen Star is shot and will be aired
soon. Stay tuned for the official Doggystyle
Records website, which has the CD cover up right now.
Next
Up is the new Talib Kweli/Dj Quik collabo from the new Soundbombing 3 compilation,
called Put It IN The Air. Nice cut with a classic Quik production. Hittman
was supposed to appear on the Soundbombing album but I guess it didnt make the
album.
Here is a track you probably havent heard. Its by Jayo Felony
called Jiggas Ass Is Guilty, the title says it all...Thanks to MikeDogg
for bringin this to my attention.

Snoop Comments On The Beef -
May 26, 2002
As You probably heard by now, Snoop stopped by the Big Boy
morning show on Power 106. He talked about the Dre/Jd beef and he said that they
better keep it fully and not just go half way, if they [Dre & X] wanna say
somthing they should say somthing about everybody. Basically just speakin
the truth right there. Click here
to listen if you havent heard it yet.
Xzibit Finishing
Up New LP -
May 26, 2002
"He actually didn't really need that much
of my involvement, because he hustles. Xzibit is not one of those that needs to
be baby-sitted. He knows how to be an artist, how to go out there and get his
album done. I come in and do my touches or do what I feel is needed to the songs,
and that's that." Dre said recently.
Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Ras
Kass and Defari will appear on the album. X has also said in the past that Rockwilder,
Megahertz, Bink Dog, Mel-Man and Rick Rock are producing tracks.
"I'm
feeling it so far. Each record has to get better and better, and this one, I feel,
is better than the last one, so he's on the right track." Dre said.
Man Vs. Machine is will be released on
September 3.
New DVD's from Fortress -
May 26, 2002
Fortress camera's were on the set of Mack
10's new video that featured West Side Connect partners Ice Cube and WC with a
special appearance by E-40. We are currently putting together DVD's for
WC and Mack 10 and hope to release
a West Side Connect DVD as well next year.
Mack 10 Shot Connected 4 Life -
May 22, 2002
Mack 10, Ice Cube, and WC assembled Saturday
to tape the video for "Connected For Life," the third single from Mack 10's Bang
Or Ball. Butch Cassidy, who sings the chorus, and WC's DJ Crazy Toones also attended
the shoot.
Billie Woodruff directed the performance video, shot in various
locations in Culver City, California. Mack 10, who told Launch that the song lets
fans know that he is still committed to his trademark West Coast roots.
"It don't matter where I go, I could go sign with a record label on Mars, and
I'm still going to be from the Westside Connection. And I'm still going to do
West Coast gangsta music, and I'm still going to be Mack 10, and I'm still gonna
do West Coast music. That's me." Mack 10 said.
Cube, who has a number
of film projects in the works, among them The Barbershop and Friday After Next,
spoke to Launch about why it is always important for him to make time for Westside
Connection projects.
"This, this is, man, where it all started. As
far as, in the rap game, I mean, I have been with N.W.A., and I had the Lynch
Mob, my new family is Westside Connection, you know, so I'm always loyal. I can't
get too big for my house. You know, getting away from the Westside Connection
is like being too big to go home, and go to my momma's house. So I'm always going
to be there," Ice Cube said.
WC, who is expecting to release his
Def Jam Records solo debut this year, said he still gets excited about working
with the Westside Connection. "Cause the game has been lacking it...our chemistry.
It's been lacking it for a while. You know, I think we're more powerful together
than, you know what I'm saying, than on a solo tip. But everybody got their solo
records, everybody doing they thang, but it ain't nothing like coming together
like family, being down to doing it, you know? So I'm real excited about this
one here." Dub C said.

J.D. Ripped in Pieces -
May 20, 2002
As you probably heard by now,
Eminem hosted the new Kay Slay mixtape and invited people to another round in
the JD beef. This time, Xzibit added his part and kicked a little freestyle for
the mixtape. X ripped it up and dissed the hell out of J.D. Click below to listen
to the freestyle.
Also, some people may recall Ras Kass' Van Gogh
promo and the track Golden Child. A while back Ras said he'd redo the track
for the new album with Dj Premier. Well, here is the new song taken from the same
mixtape. Peep below...Golden Child produced by Primo.

about the project:
"Roger taught me how to work that little toy, and it
irks me when people call it a vocoder 'cause if he was here he's correct people,
and let them know it's a talkbox. It's hard not to get emotional, man, talking
about dude. If you knew dude, then you'll know why this was so important, you
know. The Battlecats, and the Alkaholiks, and Ras Kass, and Kurupt, and everybody.
It's like, and Jayo Felony. It's like dude is kinda like the reason that we're
here." Quik said.
The album features songs by Tha Liks, Xzibit,
Daz , Defari, Chico De Barge, James De Barge, Merciless Stylz, Dirty Rat, Snoop
Dogg, Tray Deee, Kurupt, Ras Kass, Jayo and many more. So dont sleep on this ya

New Kam Album On The Way -
May 12, 2002
KAM has a new album coming this
September titled The Self and it is expected to be one of the best albums
to come out of the West Coast since Tupac's All Eyes On Me. The album release,
expected in stores across the country, will be followed by a nationwide tour.
KAM's overt sociopolitical stance, was a somewhat unique and rare style
for a West Coast Rap Artist, traditionally associated with more hard-core gangster
lyrics. KAM returns with a vengance still not afraid to challenge the world's
social issues. This CD promises to force the Hip-Hop community to step up to the
plate, or bow out gracefully. Lil

Truth Talks Remix
& Song With Kel -
May 12, 2002
Truth Hurts is currently finishing up her official
2nd single with Dr. Dre and labelmate Shaunta, and shes also putting out a duet
with R. Kelly.
"Dre did the remix
without me," she told MTV. "I walked in one day after he was finished;
I was so excited I started jumping up and down. I don't get that excited over
my own songs — he really took it to another level. He took another part of the
Indian sample and added it to the beginning and to the middle. I can't explain
it. He used another part of the sample to bring in the energy of it. It's even
more club than the original. Rakim added another rhyme to the beginning, and that
rhyme is hotter than the rhyme that's on the original. It's just amazing. It's
crazy. Ridiculous! It has an opera vibe to it. We're thinking about putting that
out along with the R. Kelly joint just to see what people think."
The Kelly song she's talking about is her
album's title track, in which the two play lovers on the outs. The cut starts
off with Kelly knocking on the door, demanding that she let him in.
"I
tried to keep the peace/ But your lies is killin' me," she scolds. "Your
ass in these streets/ Always on them late-night creeps." Meanwhile, Kelly tries
to wriggle his way back into her good graces, telling of a scenario in which he
got caught up with friends and was practically accosted by "10 or 11 strippers."
Making that song "was a different
experience," she said, bursting into laughter. "R. Kelly is different, and I'm
gonna leave it at that. He got a dose of my personality and he wrote from there.
The song came off like it was supposed to.
"We're
gonna throw that out there to see what people say because we had planned that
to be my second single," she continued. "Not just because of R. Kelly,
because the song is crazy. The song is preaching. It's really my character. We
really wanted to throw that one out there next. We don't have no issues with it."
Truth, originally from St. Louis,
did have some quandaries with moving to Los Angeles. She said there was a lot
of fakeness going around and that it wasn't all on the set of a movie. Hence the
origin of another song off the LP, the Organized Noize-produced "Bullshit."
"I'm not used to the whole L.A. vibe,"
said Truth, who on the cut sings about B.S. pouring "down like rain" and heartless
and spineless people getting caught up in the hype. "L.A. is a little different.
That song was inspired by some of the things I was going through. The Hollywood
side is the biggest side of L.A. That's the part you really have to tolerate being
on the music side. I will say this — I'm glad I met Dre because Dre is the opposite
of that."
On another track, "Tired,"
she sings in a laid-back, jazzy tone but ferociously warns family and friends,
"They don't want me to turn into a crazy ghetto bitch!"
"I'm
a very nice person until I'm driven," she said, giggling. "Especially in
relationships and everyday family life. You get to the point where niggaz start
driving you insane." Lil

New Music - May 9, 2002
Shade Sheist and Damizza recorded a track
for the new Dark Angel Soundtrack, which is in stores now released on Artemis
Records. The song is called Bad News and is really bangin, produced by
Damizza himself. The soundtrack features other tracks like the hit Neck, My
Back by Khia so go get that now.
Here is a new song from Oakland
based rapper E-A-Ski called Manuscript. No word on a new Ski album, but
this track here is pure heat. And no word on the production but it sounds very
familiar. The song has some controversial lyrics, like how the East is hatin on
the West and stuff like that. So check it out.
Snoop Dogg made a small
guest appearance on the new Puff Daddy & The Bad Boy Family compilation album

Addictive
Remix - May 3, 2002
Here is the official Dr. Dre Remix of
Addictive by Truth Hurts. The song features Rakim on 2 verses, and not
Busta Rhymes as previously reported. It still has the same Indian influence as
before, but better than the orginal in my opinion. Her album Truthfully Speaking
is in stores June 18th. Dont Sleep on This! Lil Jay
