Warren & Grimm Talk On New Album - November 22, 2001 -

Though Warren G's new album includes collaborations with Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, George Clinton, and WC, the most surprising guest appearance comes from Mista Grimm, who appeared on Warren's 1993 debut single "Indo Smoke" from the Poetic Justice soundtrack.
The two had not worked together since the early '90s recording, so Mista Grimm was surprised when he received a call from Warren.

"I'm at the house chillin', and I get a phone call, and it's Warren, and I'm like, 'Wow, how'd you get my number?'" Mista Grimm, told LAUNCH. "He started to tell me about the new album he was doing, and he wanted me to get down with him again. So we hooked right on up. Had no problems."

Warren G agrees. "It was all cool from the jump," Warren told LAUNCH. "I explained to him what I was trying to do. I wanted to put him on my team, and was working on some new stuff. It wasn't no crazy reaction. It was like we hadn't kicked it in a week or two. The way I feel about him is the same way I felt about Snoop. Once I get to lay down some tracks for him, he's going to be out of here."

Mista Grimm appears on several songs on Return Of The Regulator, including "Speed Dreaming" featuring George Clinton, and "Here Comes Another One," with Nate Dogg. Mista Grimm is also working on a new solo album. Warren's fourth album, Return Of The Regulator, is due out December 11 on Universal Records. Make sure you pick it up!

Dogg Pound & Liks Album Confirmed by MTV!
November 21, 2001

AS WE were the first website to report the exclusive news a few weeks ago, Tha Liks & Tha Dogg Pound formed a group called The Vapors and will record an album together.
This looks superfresh, they gonna release a new album next year with appearances by Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, King T, Roscoe, Defari and others. Here's the full scoop from MTV:

"We're about to take over," J-Ro said. "We're taking the most lyrical, livest, gangster element of the West Coast and combining it with the most lyrical, livest, hip-hop element of the West Coast."

The Vapors album will be released on their own DNA label, which stands for either "Dogg Pound 'n' Alkaholiks" or "Drugs 'n' Alcohol," depending on your mood. It also has another meaning for Kurupt.

"DNA is the makeup of the body, and we're the makeup of the West Coast. This preplanning is intended to show the world that the Vapors are serious. See, we're a business. Before we even go to talk to people about our situation, we're going to make the album, have the album ready, have everything in preparation from merchandising to marketing plans — everything we want. DNA is very real. It's a combination of what we consider to be the greatest to come from the West." Kurupt said.

Mack 10 Talks About Bang Or Ball -
November 12, 2001 -

Mack 10 will be releasing Bang or Ball, his first album on Cash Money Records, on December 4. Even though he's newly aligned with Cash Money — whose roster includes Juvenile, B.G., Big Tymers and Turk — don't expect to see cameos from them in the video for "Hate in Yo Eyes." Only CM's Lil' Wayne appears in the clip. Dr. Dre was unavailable due to his commitment to other projects.

"I didn't have time to wait for our schedules to be where we're on the same page," Mack said of Dre. "I had to get my video done. But he definitely called me and said that he was behind me 100 percent.
"It's not like I've got to sell my records by putting a whole bunch of rappers in my video just so everybody thinks I'm cool," he added.

The Westside Connection reconvene on Bang or Ball with "Connect for Life," a Mannie Fresh-produced track that features crooner Butch Cassidy on the chorus. In addition to being the album's second single, it is also one of the collection's strongest songs. Even though the Connection rarely records together due to Cube's movie career and other scheduling concerns, the trio sound as sharp as ever on "Connect for Life."

"I think we have a magic chemistry," he said. "There are certain groups that are just like that, like Dre and Snoop. Together, they're just the sh--. Westside Connection, it's just magic when we're together. We're to the point where we don't even have to rehearse for shows. We know each other."

It's got a bigger range," Mack 10 said. "This is more of a complete album. The Paper Route, that was one of my favorite albums. But a lot of people's fans get spoiled. Once you create a certain sound and do things a certain way, that's what they want you to do forever. Sometimes, you've got to change with the times a little bit. I keep a little bit of the gangster sh-- in there, like the old school sh--. But you don't want anybody listening to your album to think that it came out in '95."

Knoc-Turn'Al Prepares Debut Album - November 8, 2001 -

L.A. Confidential plans to bring some fresh air to the game with a new generation of artists to take L.A. hip-hop worldwide. L.A. Confidential was founded in 1999 by CEO Big D, when he hooked up with Dr. Dre. Later on he signed rapper Knoc-Turn'Al and he decided to write and rap at the early age of 12 in his hometown of Long Beach. Unfortunately, Knoc-Turn'Al got caught up in life and had to do time in jail. Two days after being free, Knoc-Turn'Al ran into Big D, who hooked Knoc-Turn'Al up with 4 songs on Dr. Dre's 2001 album.

Knoc-Turn'Al, Time Bomb, and Slip Capone come together as L.A. Confidential Crew. The first single called Let's All Roll was produced by FredWreck and features Jayo Felony. The song is set with bass dropping & high beats, and shows nothing more than the typical gangsta rap song. The second single off of Knoc's upcoming album is called About The Dough and was produced by Battlecat. The beats are similar to the one's in "Let's All Roll" and Knoc-Turn'Al is the solo rapper on this single. Both songs have producers S-Dog and Stump as well as Dr. Dre, who produced three songs on the album 'Knoc's Landin'. The album is set to be released in March. Stay tuned to his official website @ Knoc-Turn'Al Music for more infos.

- November 6, 2k1 -

Jayo Felony will release his new album next spring 2002 called If the Shoe Fits. This will album won't contain disses toward Snoop, Jay-Z and others.

I rolled on them. I spoke my peace, and I'm moving on to bigger and better things," Jayo said. "I ain't even tripping on them anymore. I'm living a positive life and staying away from these haters. If they bite my shit, I'm taking it as a compliment and keeping it moving.

Jayo recently shot a video for "She Loves Me," which features 7-year-old Loco Records artist Young Nube. Nube, also from San Diego, will release his debut album in 2002.

'He's a superstar', Jayo said of his young protégé. "He's natural. He kept me up all night. It's amazing how he put it down. The West Coast, we've got our own little kid, and he's only half the age of them other cats [Lil' Bow Wow and Lil' Romeo]."

In addition to Nube's album, Jayo Felony is planning to release his "Crip Hop" movie, which next year will be the first release from his Loco Films. The straight-to-DVD-and-VHS film documents the origins of the Crips gang, whose history Jayo said might surprise people.

It wasn't about Crips killing Bloods and all that bullshit," Jayo said. "It was about community, revolution and progress and Crips protecting their community against crooked cops and motherfuckers like that. It was a whole different story."

New Audio/ New Review - November 5, 2001 -

Here is a brand new song by Likwid Afiliates Phil Da Agony and King Tee. The song is called Back Up and is so tight, I believe E-Swift from Tha Liks produced this song. Phil Da Agony will release his debut album early next year and will be executive produced by Xzibit. And remember King's new album is comin next year on Ruthless so expect this track to appear on one of those albums, right now its featured on a new compilation.

DJ Quik Workin With Janet Again - November 4, 2001 -

There was a chat with Janet Jackson the other day and she said before the last album came out she was able to work with DJ Quik and the song might be on his next album or her DVD Compilation album coming out in November but this track is not the All For You DJ Quik Remix. Its a brand new track. She also talked about her Remix album and this will feature remixes by DJ Quik, Battlecat, The Neptunes, Rockwilder, DJ Premiere and more.
In other news MJ fans out there might be happy to hear this: She said her brother is saving the best for his next album which will be his last album and the greatest. She said Michael told her this album Invincible is just a teaser to get his name out there and to let people know he is still doing music and hasn't retired. The next one will come out within 8 months from now which will be the best work and the greatest album he ever did. Much Props to Toronto Gangstar for this news.
